Do You Remember WIllow Grove's 250th Celebration?

I think we were in 10th or 11th grade when Willow Grove celebrated its 250th birthday.  There was a week-long show at the old high school with skits and dances.  The entire town seemed to be involved.

Carole Lehman Potter sent the following two pictures of the Queen's court and the parade.  If you have any pictures or mementos of this celebration, send them on to me and I can post them.

That looks like Sally Eynon, Crystal Thompson, Sandra Loux and Carole Lehman on the left and maybe Karen West on the far right.

Bonnie Mills, Sandra Loux and Carole Lehman in the car.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.  Thanks again to Carole for sending these.

Priceless!

Carole Lehman Potter sent me the following pictures of a 5th grade newspaper published by North Willow Grove School.  Read through and learn some interesting tidbits about our fellow classmates.  You'll have to click on each picture to enlarge.

Thanks Carole - I love this!

Let the Countdown Begin!

Only 7 more days!!

It looks like we're going to have nice weather.  Highs in the low 70's and lows in the mid-low 50's.  Get your sweaters and jackets ready.

For those coming from out of town, make sure you've checked your airline reservations and your hotel reservations.  I called Hampton Inn this morning and they couldn't find my reservation!  I had the wrong confirmation number, and luckily they found it and confirmed.  Whew!

There's a train from the airport directly to Willow Grove.  It's only $1 if you show your Medicare card.  Check Septa's website for information.  It's a very confusing website - might be better to call them.

Dress for Friday night and Saturday morning - casual.  Dress for reunion Saturday night - I'd call it dressy casual.  Men - maybe suit and tie or possibly forego the tie.  Ladies - nice dress or dress pants/blouse.  We can leave the long gowns and tuxedos at home!

I heard a rumor that there might be a brunch on Sunday morning, but I'm not sure about this.  I'll update if I hear any more.

Bring your cameras and plan on taking lots of pictures.  There will be cameras on each table that will be collected at the end of the evening and pictures will be posted soon after.

We've got good food, good music, and good times ahead!

UPDATE:  Temps are going to be around 80 during the day and low 60's at night.  Might not need those jackets and sweaters after all!

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Mr. Woll and guest

Now admit it, girls - didn't we all have a teeny crush on him?

Mr. Hauser and Mrs. Hauser

He used to always say "Shape up or ship out."

Mr. DeLaurentis

Just heard that he is coming also.

Won't it be great seeing them all again?

We'll Be There...Will You?

The invitations have been sent and the replies are starting to roll in.  So far, we have 89 attending, including teachers and guests.  There may be a few others who have said that they're going, but Sue Lear hasn't received their reply and check yet.

Take a look at this list of those who have already responded.  I'm sure there are some on this list that you haven't seen in 50 years.  Wouldn't it be great to reconnect after all this time?

Here's an Oldie for You

This is a first grade class at the old York Road school (I think that's the old Jr/Sr High School) from 1951.  At that time the school had grades 1-12.

Some of the Class of 63 students identified are:  Bob Kenner, Bonnie Mills, Linda Harrison, June Fritsch, Joyce Argue, Diann Rebmann, Barbara Young, Peggy Tull, Jack Kavalek, Jim Myers, Bill Campbell, Nick Festa, Bob Howells, John Heins, and Bob Rosenberger.  Can you find them?

Thanks to Bonnie Mills Rausch for sending me this great picture!
